Except Sunni and Sji'ite muslims, Syria recognizes 23 religious minorities. They are crushed in the conflict for power between the two “forms of Islam: Sunni (the rebels) and Sji'ite, Assad).

During the clashes and fighting, Ortodox monasteries are attacked, monks killed , churches and holy places are burned to the ground. Whole villages are on the move.

When the dust will have settled, somewhere in the future, the existing religious pluriformity in the area will have disappeared.
