SECRETS OF THE DRUIDS

British Heritage is a powerful organization, which tries to conserve the impressive number of British historical monuments and sites. This important place of history can be seen to the number of British addicted to the past of their island kingdom.

The Druids, the Celtic priests/sorcerers were hated by the Romans all over Europe. They were skilled manipulators and agitators, who kept the (guerilla-)warfare against the Roman legions, whose soldiers respected and feared the Celtic warriors, going.

The Celts are a mysterious tribe, that was driven from their homelands in South-Eastern Europe, to arrive in Great-Britain between 1000 and 500 BC.

The connection that is made in this documentary between the Celts/druids and monuments like Stonehenge is a wrong one. Those monuments were build 2 to 4thousand years earlier, by descendants of Atlantis, which centre was believed to be in the North-Sea.

The end for the druids came in the first century AD.

Queen Bodicea, who was badly treated by the Romans started a revolt. After some successes, the Roman legions cornered Bodicea in Wales, at an holy site. The discipline and experience of the Roman soldiers proved to be superior. The British warrior-queen committed suicide and the druids were exterminated.

In England a new order of druids has risen. They are devoted to the power of nature. During the winter- and summersolstice they perform rituals and ceremonies at Stonehenge and other sites.
