JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Incessant rains have triggered the worst floods in more than a decade in Jammu and Kashmir, with the death toll rising to 90 on Friday as rivers and canals remained swollen in several parts of the state for the third day.

Rain and flood-relating incidents claimed 11 lives on Friday. The strategic Jammu-Srinagar national highway remained closed for the second day due to landslides at various places. "More than 1,000 vehicles were stranded along the highway," an official said.

Over half-a-dozen localities in Srinagar remained under water for the third day. A resident said at least 300 families were still trapped in the outskirts and have got no help from the administration.
