TAI SITU RINPOCHE Xll
His Eminence Tai Situ Rinpoche XII Born in 1954, H. E. Tai Situ Rinpoche XII was from the Palpung monastery (1730) located between the Dilung and Dalung Rivers in the Derge district of eastern Tibet. Chokyi Gyaltsen (1377-1448), became the first to bear the title Kuang Ting (Kenting) Tai Situ, a title presented by the Chinese Ming Emperor Yung Lo, in 1407. H. E. Tai Situ Rinpoche XII is one of the four regents responsible for the Black Crown Karmapa, the others being H. E. Shamar Rinpoche, H. E. Goshir Gyaltsab RInpoche, and H. E. Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche.

The twelfth Tai Situpa is the founder and Spiritual Head of Sherab Ling Institute of Buddhist Studies (1977) and a new Palpung Monastery located in Himalchal Pradesh, India. The main seat of the Tai Situ in America is at Palpung Longtok Choeling in San Jose, CA.
